This routine is something that you can realistically follow, and be consistent with. Sitting at your computer and scrolling your phone negatively affects the lumbar region of the spine over time, which is why it is important to stretch that area. Molly’s stretch routine is a moment of self care rather than a fitness video. There is no pressure. Follow the video slowly at your pace, stop, speed up, repeat or slow down at leisure. Molly gracefully demonstrates each stretch and move with her supine elegance. The soft music and lighting set the mood, as Molly commences the stretching video with a series of movements to help you warm up. The video staging is that of a ballet studio with a barre, and she incorporates elements of a ballet barre work out as well. Gently rolling your neck and shoulders helps to open your lumbar area, and to warm it up.
Molly sways her head from side to side as she slowly bends down to touch the floor, to loosen her neck and shoulders. Squatting down, Molly sits on the floor with her legs stretched out in front as she reaches her legs to warm up and open the cervical hip bone, and lengthen the spine. She then lifts each leg in front of her to stretch out the thigh muscles and hamstrings, to prevent injury. Next up, she does a stretching variation of the downward dog yoga pose combined with a cat stretch. Her spine and neck are elongated, as this stretch really gets the hard to reach lower back. She proceeds to hold and releases this pose.
Molly then rises up and assumes the plank pose, as she really leans into this stretch. She then touches her toes going backwards, assuming a bridge pose. Molly then stretches out her elbows, arms and wrists, and then stretches out her back by holding the barre. She alternatively performs a leg stretch on the barre, displaying Ballet discipline and training. Finally, a series of cool down stretches completes the exercise.
Molly does not rush through each pose, rather holding it to connect both mind and body for an optimum work out. This method really helps you de stress and relax, as you hold and release each breath to really connect with the exercise. Molly’s workout is designed to be approachable for everyone, and is energizing and relaxing at the same time. Molly succeeds in making wellness accessible.
